Xu and Oluwadare Help GB Reach European Finals

Two Tennis First grantees were selected to represent Great Britain at the G12 2019 Tennis Europe Nations Challenge by HEAD.

In the group stage, Mimi Xu and Hephzibah Oluwadare had some convincing wins against Latvia and Ukraine.

Mimi beat Sofiia Mykhailets of Ukraine 6-0, 6-0 and then went on to beat Polina Korolova of Latvia 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4).

Hephzibah beat Elizabete Brutane of Latvia 6-0, 6-2 and then lost out to Yelyzaveta Kotliar of Ukraine in a tough match, 6-3, 6-4.

In doubles, Mimi and Hephzibah played together and won 6-4, 6-3 against the Ukrainian pair.

In the Play Off, Great Britain beat Belgium. Mimi beat Zita Berckmans 6-0,6-1 and Hephzibah beat Lauren Seye 6-1, 6-0.

Well done to Lois Newberry who partnered Mimi and Hephzibah, winning two doubles for GB too.

The GB team now go on to play the European Finals in Corsica.
