Boulter Retains Rothesay Open Nottingham Title
Katie Boulter retains her Rothesay Open Nottingham title with 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over 2016 champion Karolina Pliskova in the final. Earlier in the day, she turned her semi-final match against Emma Raducanu around, battling to a 6-7(13), 6-3, 6-4 victory.
As the winner for the second consecutive year, Katie becomes the first player in history to win the WTA singles title in back to back year and tallies up three WTA titles to her name.
In her post match speech Katie tells her supporters: “This is a little bit of deja-vu, I’m not exactly sure if I’m dreaming or if this just happened. It’s incredible to be here, it has a special place in my heart, it always will do. It’s been an incredible week for me – mentally tough after a hard clay court season. I’m really happy with the way this year has gone so far, I’ve been working really hard with my team. I’m just going to keep doing my best and with you guys (the fans) behind me, anything is possible.”
Harriet Dart teamed up with Diane Parry to reach the doubles final, losing out to top seeds and US Open Champions, Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe in a tight championship tie break, 5-7, 6-3, 11-9.
A fantastic way to kick off the grass court season. Good luck in Birmingham!
