What a U.S Open!!

And breathe!! What an incredible U.S Open that was. Not only was it fantastic to see another Grand Slam post-pandemic with real-life crowds, but we also witnessed the meteoric rise of our very own Emma Raducanu, who was a Tennis First Grantee since the age of 12. We are obviously incredibly proud to have been a part of her tennis journey and very excited to watch her continue to shine. We are confident that an incredibly exciting future awaits her.

We also want to say a huge Congratulations to Joe Salisbury, another former Grantee, who became the first Brit to win two doubles titles at a Grand Slam this weekend when he and hs partner, Desirae Krawczyk, won the Mixed Doubles title, a day after he and Rajeev Ram had won the Mens Doubles title, beating fellow Brit Jamie Murray in a tightly-fought final. Joe now has four Grand Slam titles under his belt - an incredible achievement for the 29 year old from London.

In other U. S Open news, we were also very proud of Katie Boulter and Harriet Dart who both came through qualifying to reach their first Grand Slam main draw. They both came up against tough opponents in the first round but now sit comfortably with their new WTA rankings at 190 and 151 respectively. A terrific few months for both talented players!

In the Juniors event, promising young player Matilda Mutavdzic lost in tie break in the third round of the Girls’ Singles (opponent is now in semis, so will watch that one) whilst also reaching the second round of the Doubles. Lui Maxted reached the quarter finals of the Boys Doubles and Jack Pinnington Jones sadly retired with an injury in the second round of the Boys’ Singles, but hopefully he will bounce back and continue his great form soon.

What a tournament, what a result for British tennis and Tennis First in particular, and we are incredibly proud to have played a small part in the success of these Grand Slam winners.
