Team GB Place 2nd

The girls’ final rounds of the 16&U Winter Cup Finals were played in France, this time in Brest.

Grantee Abby Kelliher won 2 out of 3 singles matches over the weekend, showing tremendous courage against higher ranked opponents and an impressive level of tennis, to help her team secure a silver medal and a team best for GB in recent memory.

The team narrowly missed out to a very experienced Czech Republic team 2-1 in a closely contested final match up where all matches went to three sets. Czech Republic dominated the event sweeping three of the four titles on offer.

The 44th edition of the Winter Cups by Dunlop saw 128 participating teams and for Great Britain to make it to the very final is a superb achievement. Congratulations to Abby and the team for all their hard work and effort throughout the event.
