Katie Swan has not had her injuries to seek over the past couple of years, buy apparently now completely fit and well, she comfortably won this Spanish inquisition in Monzon, Spain. A tough opener against the Paraguayan Montserrat Gonzalez was followed by four straightforward victories, closing with a 6-2 6-3 success over Aliona Bolsova Zadoinov (Spain), bringing her first title since October 2017.
Good news for the 19 year old who is part of Andy Murray’s 77 agency. And the even better news is that her ranking will have soared to within the 250 mark set by Tennis First as it’s first senior target for grantees. A really great confidence boost for Katie and proof, if proof were needed, that persistence pays dividends through adversity. Well done Katie – welcome back to winning ways!
