Progress Down Under for Evan Hoyt

Evan Hoyt has been battling it out on the Futures Tour for some time now and is a fine example of someone for whom the journey from Junior to Senior has been a bumpy one, particularly when battling a long list of injuries. However, he made great progress Down Under last week, where he reached the finals of the ITF Futures event in Darwin, narrowly losing out on the title to an impressive Shimizu from Japan in a tight three-setter.

However, Hoyt had better luck in the Doubles in Cairns, where he partnered America’s Dusty Boyer to win a $25,000 Futures tournament, defeating Australians Jacob Grills and Calum Puttergill 6-2, 7-5 in the final.

A good couple of weeks for the Welsh Number one player!
