Huge congratulations to Anne Keothavong and all the GB Fed Cup team for a brilliant performance in their Fed Cup tie in Bath last week. There were some extremely gutsy performances from both Katie Boulter and Johanna Konta (especially in the last tie against Serbia when Konta battled extreme fatigue and collapsed after the second set) and GB are now one win away from reaching World Group II for the first time since 1993.
The victory against Serbia completed a perfect four days for GB in their first Fed Cup matches on home soil for 26 years, as they won all four of their ties without losing a single rubber.
The whole team (including the ‘behind the scenes’ staff as well as the players) deserve credit and praise for a fabulous performance, but with three of the four team members being past Tennis First Grantees, we are especially proud of Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart and Katie Swan! All three gave their absolute best in playing for their country and will have learnt so much from the experience, including how to play in front of a jubilant home crowd.
Well done to the whole team and good luck in the next round!
