There was plenty of British representation at the ITF Junior Grade 2 tournament in Pontevedra, Spain… and plenty of British success! Jacob Fearnley is one of several 2001 born boys who together are making a lot of noise in the junior world, led of course by Jack Draper.
Fearnley remains in full time education in Edinburgh, and as a consequence does not have as much opportunity as some of the others for the time being, but his work ethic and approach should bear fruit in the longer term. It’s a long road! Rewarding, then, for Jacob to claim this success from his No.2 seeding position, claiming the title with a 14-12 final set tie break win over Carlos Alfaraz Garfia (ESP).
Harry Wendelken also had a good week, reaching the semi finals of the singles and with Welshman James Story taking the doubles title. Both were beaten in 3 sets by Alfaraz Garfia (ESP).
