Draper wins again!

You know the old saying about London buses – you wait for ages and then two come along at the same time? Well, we wouldn’t say that Jack Draper didn’t know how to win before now, but two consecutive titles on the senior Futures Tour certainly brings the old saying to mind!

Last week Nottingham, this week the NTC in Roehampton. But still the same result. Wild carded into the main event, former grantee Draper beat Tiran Sanghera (GBR), a qualifier, before stunning Baptiste Crepatte (FRA) the No.1 seed and ranked 448 in the world by 4-6 6-4 6-4. This was a serious win for a 16 year old!

Jack then disposed of another former grantee, the 7th seeded Finn Bass, 6-3 6-4, and then another Brit Mark Whitehouse 6-1 6-3 to reach the final. By now firing on all available cylinders, the Surrey player put paid to Filip Bergevi (SWE) 6-3 6-2 to take the spoils.

Our picture shows Jack with coach Ryan Jones, and not looking exactly ecstatic!! He clearly thinks this kind of thing is quite normal. If he’s right, look out for some more fireworks from this young man in the future!
